Thursday, March
12,
2020: There was a power outage about 9:05 am that affected much of Brainerd and the eastern parts of Baxter, MN. Street lights were out so drivers were careful at intersections. No accidents were reported. The automatic power generator at Gilbert Lodge kicked on, supplying power to the entire facility after only 10 seconds. |
A check of the Brainerd Public Utilities website showed how wide spread this was. |
The problem was traced to a failed insulator. A Brainerd City power crew is seen here at the intersection of NW 8th and Charles Streets. |
Working on a high-voltage power lines during rainy weather is a
bit dangerous. They got the system up and running in about an hour. A similar thing happened back in December. |
