Friday, June 8, 2018:
One last look around
London before Mark and Paula headed back to Maidenhead, England. |
First it was down
escalators to the tube (subway). |
Then it was onto a
tube platform. |
Tubes are very crowded
sometimes, but very
efficient and fast. |
Train
stations are run like an airport. Huge scheduling boards give
passengers times and gates. |
The trains are almost
always on time. Very efficient. |
Mark and Paula were
greeted at Maidenhead by interesting signage and a statue near the River Thames. |
This is a typical
English town with narrow winding streets. |
Homes are mostly brick
on small lots with fences. |
Only a few homes have a
garage and that is for just one car. Note the garage doors that swing open
rather than rise up. |
This man's pride and
joy is a woody car. Made in England in 1954, it is small by U.S.
standards, but big by English standards. |
Quote of the day: They have everything. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
