Thursday, August 3, 2017:  Mark and Paula traveled by car going east along the south shore of Lake Superior.
They traveled from Marquette, MI, stopping at Munising, Sand Point, Sable Falls, and Grand Marais on the way to St. Ignace, MI.
Plenty of driftwood and boat traffic along the way.

They stopped by a waterfall for a photo.

This is Pictured Rock National Lakeshore where colors abound.

Walking along the shore of Lake Superior is an experience everyone should have.
The lake is strong and we are small.

Waterfalls abound as rainwater finds its way to Lake Superior.

Finally they arrived in in St. Ignace, MI, and immediately headed to this restaurant, which is touted to be the best around.

Waitress Michelle was very accommodating with a Michigan Pasty in one hand and Lake Superior Whitefish in the other.
Mark first tasted pasties in Ely, Minnesota.  They are meat pies that miners take underground for lunch on their shift.
Michigan is a mining area too and pasties are a local favorite.

Quote of the day:    Trips are more fun with great food.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
