Friday,
October 30, 2015:
A performance of "Letters
Home" was presented at Central Lakes College. The event was partially sponsored by Brainerd Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1647 and the Crow Wing County Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. |
|
Professional actors from the Griffin
Theatre Company in Chicago gave compelling recitals of letters from U.S. troops in Iraq
and Afghanistan to relatives back home. Some were high points of
winning the hearts and minds of locals in those far off lands. |
|
Some of the letters were heart
wrenching with stories of tragedy and anger. An accurate portrayal
of the human condition that results from a war. |
|
Yes, there were the highs and lows of
those serving in the U.S. military in places where the culture is
so different from this country. |
|
The troops were united in their belief that they are doing what is right for the world. Bravery, compassion, social responsibility, sense of community, and brotherhood. A very memorable and thought provoking 90 minute performance. |

Quote of the day: A real eye-opener. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
