The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Sunday, September 20, 2015:  Mark and Paula visited the famous Corn Palace in Mitchell, Sough Dakota.
Proclaimed as the world's only Corn Palace, it is decorated each year since 1892 with thousands of ears of corn inside and out.
Some 500,000 people visit there each year.

Many famous entertainers have performed in its huge auditorium over the years.
There is a Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo each July and a Corn Place Polka Festival in September.
Many sporting events are held there throughout the year.

Corn murals are different each year, but usually depict life in South Dakota.

Explorers and settlers of South Dakota saw rich rolling prairies.  WOW!...now the speed limit is 80 miles per hour.  A far cry from back then.

There is a rest stop along Interstate 90 as it crosses the mighty Missouri River.

It is a beautiful viewing spot.

Chamberlain is on one side with Oacoma on the other.

Ouch! Beware of Snakes.  Mark said he was not aware there were attorneys around!

There's a sign post up ahead.  Hmmm....does this foretell the future?

Quote of the day:    More fun on the road.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
