The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Monday, September 12, 2015:

Paula was mowing the lawn at Gilbert Lodge.

Hmmm.....I'll bet you didn't know there was a lawn at the Lodge.

Here is the story:

It all started on June 25th when Mark used a stump grinder to get rid of tree stumps that didn't work into the lawn plan.
Then on August 3rd, he used a trencher so underground lawn irrigation pipes could be added.

A crew from Landsburg Landscape Nursery arrived on August 5th.  They had a plan to redo the landscaping at Gilbert Lodge.
(l-r) Lead landscaper Shawn, assistant Joe, and project coordinator James Kramvik.
There was plenty to do.
Landsburg was hired on a time and material basis.
The cost was a less than a bid because they did not do all of the work.
The Landsburg people brought knowhow and experience.
Mark and Paula put a lot of time and muscle into the project.

Paula put her all into the job.  She even wore out/broke a rake.  These things don't happen for no reason!

Mark hand dug over 250 feet of trench for water pipes.  The project seemed like it would never end as the work continued.

More trenching.  It was a two man operation on turns.  Connecting pipes is too.

There were plenty of questions to be answered along the way.  What do we do now???
Then Paula discovered a couple of painted turtles, which she took to the lake.  They happily swam away.

Shawn ran the Bobcat loader while Joe was still shoveling unwanted roots into a truck.

Paula was kept busy spreading rich black dirt and cedar chips.  There was always something more to do.

The crew showed up with a Hydro-Seeder in tow on August 21st.  Seed, ground newspapers, and water were mixed, then sprayed on the ground.

Success.  James stopped by to see how the grass was doing on September 15th.   Thumbs up!

Quote of the day:    A project well done.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
