29, 2015:
Mark attended the
Gull Lake Classic Boat Show north
of Brainerd. |
The event was held at the Bar Harbor Supper Club, which has been a fixture in the area for over 75 years. | |
There were some real fast wooden
boats at the dock that day including this one with a twelve-cylinder
engine. |
An example of a luxury boat, including wine glasses from Toronto, Canada. |
Mark's friends Tom and Loree Yeager
showed their just-finished TWYSTER. It is a 17 foot 1948 vintage
Chris Craft. It has a fully restored 6-cylinder 95 horse engine
that will push the craft to about 35 miles per hour.
This wood boat looked pretty sad when they purchased it four years ago. After 1500 hours or more of work and uncounted money, it has a value of about $45,000, but they are not in the mood to sell. At least for now, the Yeagers want to enjoy the fruit of their labors. Beautifully restored from almost nothing to start with, it took top honors in their boat restoration category. Congratulations Tom and Loree! |
|
There were lots
of restored boats including this one with a single-cylinder inboard
engine from the early 1900s. |
|
A few antique cars showed up to show
off too. |
|
Then there was this young ship captain who arrived by boat....with wheels under it. He even brought his parents. Nice going! |
Quote of the day: Boat shows are always fun. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
