Wednesday July
16, 2014:
The Annual Country Sampler Picnic was held at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd. About 900 people attended this popular event. |
Music was provided by a band made up of local people including
WJJY Radio morning show
host Ken Thomas (on the right).
They played and sang popular songs with their own words. Very funny. |
Junior Teen and Miss Teen Brainerd vying for a Minnesota 2015
title. And then there are younger ones who will also try someday as well. |
Even the
Veteran Beer
Company was there to hand out samples. Beer made by veterans for veterans and everyone. |
Then the stagecoach arrived from
Action Entertainment in Pine River.
Horse teams that night were Princess and Bud along with Torrey and Lacey in this photo. |
Dennis Drummond teaches wine making at Central Lakes College.
He provided samples too.
Brainerd mayor James Wallin, in the right on the above photo, was out campaigning for re-election. |
Even photographer Kelly Humphrey was there from the
Brainerd Dispatch
newspaper. She does wonderful work. |
Then the pig races were held. A fun event for children
and adults. The joke is that the pig that loses the race is served as a pork sandwich the next day. Ouch! |
