         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Sunday September 15, 2013:  There was an open house at Camp Ripley, about 20 miles south of Brainerd.

The public had a chance to see military equipment, like this tank, up close.

There was even a U.S. Army drone for surveillance. 

A part of this event was an award ceremony.

The U.S. Air Force officer in blue received a long-overdue award for meritorious service during the Vietnam War.

 
Music was played, some of it written just for the occasion.

It honored those on the home front who keep their families together when soldiers are away at war.

 
The Minnesota military Museum was open.

There are many well done exhibits including this one about the American Civil War.

 
This young man was checking to see how he would look in a U.S. Marine uniform.

Give him a few years, and it looks like he will fit it well.
