The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Sunday, August 4, 2013:

A Ford Model T car was spotted near The Barn restaurant in downtown Brainerd.

Sometimes known as the "Tin Lizzie," variations of this car were built between 1908 and 1927.

It came complete with a crank upfront to start the engine.

The gentleman behind the wheel looks like he grew up with this car.

Speaking of food, Chef Paula decided to cook sausage mit sauerkraut that evening.

Thanks to Dave and Sharon Ostrowski for providing the excellent home-made sauerkraut.

They are SCUBA divers and show up at Paula's dive parties

Paula has shied away from sauerkraut, but recently decided it tastes OK.

Mark learned to like kraut when he grew up and graduated from high school in Marshfield, Wisconsin, a German community.

On the plate with corn, it is just right.

You don't have to be German to eat a sauerkraut dish.

Sauerkraut can also be served with ham.

The judge's favorite is sausage with sauerkraut.

Don't forget a summer dessert of cold watermelon.

Quote of the day:  Summer and outdoor eating go together.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
