Friday, May 24, 2013: 

Local folks were decorating the graves of their loved ones in preparation for Memorial Day.

This is a traditional event at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd and cemeteries across the country. 
 
Many graves were for military, some who gave their lives for their country.

 
 
The weather was good. 
Standing guard over them was this statue of a World War I soldier, now also at rest. 

This statue was donated by the Brainerd Veterans of Foreign Wars in 1946.
