24, 2014:
Traffic was blocked on Highway 371 in Baxter while two large buildings were moved south from Crosslake, MN. Electric crews, along with the Minnesota State Patrol and Baxter Police, were on hand to make sure it all went well. |
Lots of people were
on hand to make the operation go smoothly. No mishaps that
day. You've probably seen similar moves on television. |
A carefully planned
maneuver had the movers changing lanes so the structures were
going south on the northbound lane of Highway 371. |
They they kept moving south
for about a half mile
at just a
few miles per hour while traffic was diverted on service roads. As it turns out, these two behemoths are two parts of the same building, just cut apart for travel. |
They finally came to rest just south
of the Best Buy store. Big stuff....no problem. Don't try this at home! |
A happy mover was seen at the destination
site. Still more work to do before the building is put back together again.
Speaking of wheels, stay tuned to this blog. This reunited building will become the Lakes State Bank. |
Quote of the day: Just what Brainerd needed....another bank! Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
