Friday,
February 21, 2014:
Mark and
Paula headed toward Minneapolis, MN, but were faced with plenty of
snow and winds. |
Snowplows were out doing the best they could
on snow and ice covered roads. |
Many cars ran off the road that day. According to reports, there were 8 to 17 inches of snow in the Twin Cities area. Some 400+ car crashes, over 13,000 cars ran off the road, 58,000 were without power, and 100 airline flights were cancelled. |
It was near grid-lock when they reached
Minneapolis. The trip was expected to take 2 hours, but instead stretched out to 4.5 hours. |
The
Ford Edge
car speedometer told the story in frigid 8 degree weather and 20
below wind chills. Good thing the gas tank was almost full. Many stretches were below 30 miles per hour on 70 mile per hour expressways. The Dynamic Duo finally arrived at Arbor Lakes on the north side of the Twin Cities. They were glad to call a Marriot hotel home for the night. |
Quote of the day: We're Minnesotans, we can take it!. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
