Saturday,
April 27, 2013: Mark and Paula were
off to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. The speaker that day was
Bill Gates,
co-founder and chairman of
Microsoft.
Gates was introduced as someone who opened a "window" to the world. |
Gates told how he was driven to create software in his younger days and then went on to give away money to help the world. Some 25% of his charitable money goes to institutions in the United States. He talked about how American education gets more money per student and has poorer results than many other countries. Gates said he is for paying teachers on results rather than tenure. |
Bill Gates was an excellent speaker and then went on to answer questions from university students. In the end, he received a standing ovation from the thousands who attended the event. |
Quote of the day: First time I've been in the same room with a billionaire. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
