December 15, 2025 Christmas letter Greetings from Mark and Paula Persons Brainerd, Minnesota |

Somehow each year seems to go by faster than the last. Who said
things slow down when you retire? We are fortunate to have good health
and able to continue doing things we enjoy. This year Paula took Mark to
Bonaire when she went on her diving trip. She enjoyed the great diving
with fish different colors than green like in the mine pits of
Minnesota. Mark visited a high-power radio station and then wrote an
article for Radio World Magazine. He now understands why she likes the
winter dive trips. Paula continues to dive at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth, MN during the winter months. There she feeds the fish, scrubs the inside of the tanks and waves at the kids. Summer is spent diving in the mine pits in Minnesota. Paula also continues to be active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, spending summers cleaning military tombstones. The local group has cleaned well over 1500 tombstones over the past six years. Paula spent the winter months restoring a family trunk. Thought it was her father’s trunk from his WWII service but after doing some serious research, found out the trunk was much older, probably WWI or earlier. Not sure how her parents acquired it, but it looks much nicer and smells a whole lot less musty now. Mark is still wondering how he gets roped into helping with her escapades. But guess who cleans out the antique radio equipment he restores and then displays in his shop? Mark continues to improve as an amateur photographer and website writer. His writing for the BrainerdFVW.org won first place in Minnesota again this past year. He also writes the website for Gilberlake.org, the lake we have lived on for twenty plus years. He is very active with the local VFW as their photographer. You seldom see him out and about without at least one camera around his neck or hanging from his belt. If they have an event, be it a dinner or sports event they know who to call. Even after retiring eight years ago, he continues to write articles for radio trade magazines and mentors up and coming engineers. We did some nice traveling this past year to check out the Black Hills of South Dakota. Also went back to Ely, a gateway to the Boundary Waters, where Mark spent five years as a child. Mark and Paula Persons. |
