Thursday, September 4, 2025: Southwestern Minnesota is dotted with wind generators making power.

Mark and Paula headed to the Pipestone National Monument where peace pipes are made by Indigenous people.

There is an interpretive center where everyone can see pipes being made and ask questions.

Then it was outside to see the area.

Paula found some stone that looked good for making peace pipes.

They came upon a woman using hand tools to quary stone.
Hard work, but it is a way of life for those preserving the heritage of the site.

In the end, the stone will be sued to make peace pipes.

Back at the center, there was a colorful man in a hat and bandana.

Visitors were tracing history in the state.

Quote of the day:    There is a lot to learn in this place.  Mark < Back to previous story Ahead to next story>
