 Saturday, July 12, 2025: Mark and Paula headed to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial.  The Avenue of Flags, one flag for each state.   There is the Presidental Walk around the site to see the faces from different angles.  The sculpture's studio where this model was used in mapping the real carvings.   Who could pass up Thomas Jeffereson's ice cream?   The museum showed images of the project leader, Gutzon Borglum, inspecting the work.  Military veterans were called to the stage. There were more than 30.   Mark is seen on the left in the left photo. He served three years in the U.S. Army including a year in Vietnam. There was a standing ovation for the veterans.     Then it was time to take the flag down and fold it. Nicely done.  There was another standing ovation by the audience.  Leaving the memorial after the ceremony. |
